Chatsworth House and portraits

Hello!
Pardon my absence, I've been indulging in a little mother /daughter time this week and there hasn't been any time for creating! Lots and lots of time for travelling and going to see shows though to recharge my old creative batteries! I'll be blogging about a few of the places we visited, mainly the gorgeous Chatsworth hall and their christmas decorations! It's really put me in the festive mood and I'm going to be drawing lots of beautiful baubles to go with my daily outfit artworks. These are becoming harder and harder to fit into my daily schedule as my portrait work (website here) is taking off but I'm being vigilant and will keep at it!

24Models24Hours

Ewan Mathers and Holly Booth are doing a fantastic job raising money for Children in need as well as supporting the local designers in Derby. 24Models 24Hours is the idea of photographing different models in a different in different locations wearing and being styled by different design teams. They said it was madness and i'm sure there was a lot of insanity along the way, but they managed to pull it off! The end result has been made into a book that will be sold and the money will be given to Children in need.

So far they are on £247.79!!
A documentary has been created that details the thoughts behind the project, interviewing the models and designers and letting them say what the project means to them. You can watch it here.

They will be holding a book launch event on Sunday 27th November at Fat Cat Café Bar in Derby (6.30pm), please come & join us for a celebratory '24' cocktail.

Now for todays outfit illustration!

Victoria Secrets Fire

Mmm I love this old design, done for an old Victoria Secret competition, i really like the style used to create it. Done mainly in Photoshop using a ink illustration as the base.

I admit, i'm procrastinating a little bit, I have a few portraits that need working on ( www.lauramossop.com/portraits/ ) but all i want to do is create fashion illustrations!! I do believe i'm addicted.

I also love Kimbra!

A late post - fashion faces illustrations

I said there may be a late one! I confess, I'd much rather stay up late then get up early, i wish i loved mornings but i don't!

So a couple of illustrations of faces, i was experimenting with a watercolour style.

and here's the illustration with lace, experimenting with pattern and composition more then anything else. Next week I'll actually post some of my influences on this blog, so far its been all about my stuff! :)

Lazy Sunday evening

Hi!
Now, i usually do 2 outfit illustrations a day but as this is the first week of my creating this ritual, I think I'm allowed to make a small adjustments. After all, Sunday is the day of rest and all that...So on Sundays I'm going to look through old sketches and try and finish one!
Today I played about with pattern a bit and did a proper concept illustration. Presenting the 30cm Vert Hermes Bag!  Perfect when strolling through the jungle on Safari. :)

Let me know what you think! I'm still playing with another sketch so i may do another late post tonight or do it in the morning. This next one involves Lace!

The wonderful and brilliant Annching Wang has used her great skill with words to help me create a press kit for my portrait business!

Annching is a freelance copy writer and creates media kits for business's to use to help promote themselves, inform their customers and, like the title suggests, give to the media! Her website  has all the details if you're ever in need of one! She's currently doing a great deal on press releases, find out more here.

I've created a portrait for Annching to use for online profiles, let me know what you think and if you would be interested!

When i found Jessica Celebre outfit on Chictopia,  I was totally unaware of the fantastic cause behind her outfit! Chictopia is hosting a Week of giving, encouraging their members to create outfits inspired by their favourite charities and for every submission, they will donate £1 to the winning charity! Such a great idea to get people involved. Jessica's gorgeous outfit ( the first 2 pictures in this post) was inspired by Plan International's 'Because I am a Girl' campaign.

In Jessica's own words " I have chosen to create my outfit in support of the Because I Am a Girl project by Plan International. I first heard of this campaign last year. I remember sitting in a bus shelter in the dead of winter and seeing this bright pink poster. I was completely inspired by the message scrawled across the board calling women to action."

Please follow the link to the charities main page and learn about all the hard work this charity is doing to help create better futures for young girls.

Outfit illustrations.2 with sushi.

Hi,

Catching up on posting my outfit illustrations as the first one was from yesterday.

&
meggstatus : Cheapo

I also attempted to draw sushi! I think i overestimated the depths that sushi has, i love the colour and clash between the vivid salmon and the pale rice...but i think my sushi needs more form!

  Nevermind, there's always tomorrow.

Outfit Illustrations

I am a massive fan of fashion illustration and it has come on leaps and bounds in the last few years as more and more young artists are finding how fun it is! I have followed a few fashion illustrators for a while and love their daily outfit illustrations: the perfect way to practice drawing and create beautiful images to share. Nancy. Z is my fashion illustrator obsession at the moment - check out her wonderful drawings here http://www.xiaoxizhang.com/

Now...i love clothes. My problem is i have very limited funds and cannot sew, nor do i really want to learn ( Okay, i have the odd moment where i think its a fantastic idea, but then i remember all the other things i need to learn and it goes back to number 7 on the list - sorry sewing! ). So..instead of drawing MY daily outfits, i will be using this site instead! Chictopia !

It's perfect for what i would like to do, there's a vast range of different styles, looks and girls! Yesterday i drew two love and very different outfits.

I found it works as a great warm up exercise before i start the portraits!

On a side note: I've been updating my etsy shop again! Prints are available for the raspberry truffle cake thats pictured at the top of this post!
